Yesterday was father's day. I didn't get to be with my dad, but I did text him, and send him a pic of the kids holding a sign. Last minute, I got Jackson a star wars coffee mug, that was a 2 in 1. One side was the "dark side" and flip over to the "light side." We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Didn't wait long for a table, even though it was pretty busy. The waiter apologized a few times about the food taking so long, and the manager even came over and said he would discount our ticket. The food was good. no complaints, which is unusual for me. When the bill came, they ended up not charging for drinks and took 30% off! I expected 10 at most, and i told them it was unnecessary. They like to have food out in 15-20 minutes, and he said ours took 40. That was nice.
We went to the movies later, and watched What to expect when you're expecting. It was hilarious! I laughed the whole time. Saturday night, we had taken the kids to see Avengers. Tried out peach wave frozen yogurt, too. It was good, but expensive since it went by weight.
We moved hotels Friday. (im backtracking, i know) Thought it would be better to have a hotel that offered breakfast and extended rates. To get to our room, we have to squeeze by a big laundry cart full of nasty water and garbage. Apparently the ceiling in the outside walkway leaks when it rains, so they use that to catch it instead of letting it drip, and people throw their trash in it. The room is older looking. HUGE stain on the floor where the ceiling leaked all over it. Ceiling has a few places where it's holding water(or was). We had 3 towels and 1 wash cloth for 4 people. 1 little garbage can. Everything in here is from another hotel lol. We're at Executive Inn, and the garbage can is from holiday inn. shower curtain and rug are from 2 other places. Nice.
I can not wait to get a house!

Homesick...
It's been over 2 weeks since I left "home" and told my family goodbye. I was doing ok, since we've been busy swimming, going to the movies, and exploring. Today, it got to me a little more than usual. I was told my step dad's cancer came back and he has to have a kidney removed. Even though Jake and mom divorced years ago, and we don't keep in touch all the time, I always think of him as my step dad. I hope they get the cancer out with the kidney.
I talked to mom on the phone for a few minutes and when she said bye, i was fighting back tears. Add mailing fathers day cards off to my dad today, then seeing my sister post that she's missing us has me pretty home sick now.
Being crammed in a hotel with nothing really to do doesn't help. I keep hoping the housing list moves us up quickly, but its 2 or so a day. still about 20 ahead of us. :( I do NOT want to rent an apartment for a month or more, before we move on post. I hate this part of moving. Sure wish we weren't 14 hours from home.
I miss my family. :(

Just another day in the hotel
The plus side of living in a hotel: Being able to swim anytime we want. Down side: umm, just about everything else. The kid's want to be out every day, and when it's 90-100, Im happy to join them! What else is there to do, besides watch 1 of the 12 channels we get, get online, or read? I've read 6 or so books in the last week i think. I know once we get a house, i'll bitch about unpacking, but i'll be glad to finally get one. It's just too hard trying to "live" in a 1 room place. It's a mess, and there isn't much I can do about it.
Monday, Jackson went to work and the kids and I swam for a while. Went to dinner, came back and watched tv. Today, same story. Well, it did rain a little, then got hot and I watched the kids swim. After dinner, I got in with them while Jackson put the tire back on the car. Apparently, it had a nail in it, so it was patched and plugged. Woo, exciting times in Oklahoma! :)
I want to start writing, but I dont know what I want to write. Lately, when im bored I get the urge to write, but no clue what. Maybe i'll figure it out soon. Sigh... thats it for now.

It's the weekend
We took the kids to see Madagascar last night. Well, I did. Jackson went and watched battleship. The kids loved it, and I thought it was pretty funny, too.
Jackson had to sign in off leave today, and goes back to work tomorrow. :( We went to dinner while we were out, and when we got back to the car, we had a flat tire. Ugh... It was over 100 today with the heat index, so we were going to swim a bit at the hotel. Got changed, walked over, and there was a chain on the door. WTF. It was closed because they "couldn't see the drain." Umm.... try cleaning it now and then. So, big waste of time changing, and the kids were disappointed. Supposed to be open tomorrow, but i think there is a chance for storms. Yippee...
So, today makes day 10 in Oklahoma. So far, it's been ok. I miss home and my family, and im getting tired of this hotel room. I cant wait til we get a house, hopefully sooner rather than later. The one thing im glad of is that Jackson isn't any higher ranked. Some of the E6 and up have a lot longer of a wait, but they also get the nicer housing, too. Oh well. Someday maybe we'll be able to have a nice, new house. :)
Time for True Blood!

Stir crazy!
I usually love staying in hotels. It usually means vacation and/or visiting family. Not this time... We've been stuck in this particular hotel for more than a week now, waiting on housing. 4 people, 2 cats and a dog, PLUS luggage, food, toiletries, toys etc all in one room. No fun in that! We're still 125/186 on the list, but #98 was offered a house, so there is a little hope it wont be much longer.
We needed a few things from the store, and I needed out of the room, so we went to post. After the housing office, we went for lunch. I had Church's chicken for the 1st time, and it was pretty good. Chicken strips were yummy, fries were decent, cole slaw had no taste, and the honey was biscuit was good, but I need to learn to eat it while its still warm lol. After lunch, we walked over to the "Pxstra" to look at bed's for Ally. They have the class 6, ups store, toys section, and furniture store in a separate building. Then, off to the commissary for breakfast foods, snacks, and some cleaning supplies.
Later, we (I) decided to take the kids to see Men in Black 3 after dinner. Wanted something different (and fast) because I think we've tried most of the restaurants by now. Settled on Taco Mayo. (almost like Taco Johns back home) Pretty good first run there. Pretty much the typical fast food mexican food. Taco salad, quasadilla's, taco's, burritos, etc etc. MIB3 turned out to be a pretty good movie. I remember liking the 1st one, cant remember seeing the 2nd. Love Will Smith anyway, and tommy Lee Jones is a good actor, too. I'd buy it when it comes out so we could watch it again.
Anywho, that's my day. Not sure what the weekend holds yet.

Slacker, thy name is Jennifer..
Wow...so I didn't think it's been that long since my last blog post. Boy, was i wrong! So, let's see...
Both kids finished school on a high note. Jordan had academic awards (of course) and is on the honor roll, and Ally graduated kindergarten! Both kid's played soccer last season, and I loved every minute of it. (well, almost every minute) I was sad to see the season end, partly because I do love watching them play, and partly because we had to move. :(
We cleared housing on the last day of school, then stayed at my mom's for a week. We left "home" May 28th, and headed to In to visit Jacksons dad and family. We took the kids back to the science museum, and was able to see pretty much everything this time. Wednesday, we hit the road for Ft Sill. We stopped a little over halfway, in Springfield, Mo.
Thursday, we headed out about lunchtime and I was ready to be out of the car for a LONG while! Ok has a TON of tolls we had to pay, times 2 since we were both driving. Wtf! We made it to Lawton a little after 6pm. Checked into the hotel, then headed to post to check it out. Ate dinner in the px, since we were there and hungry. Drove around a bit, then back to the hotel since it was dark.
We went back exploring Friday. Post seems ok so far. Housing is kinda weird. Not sure what to think about that yet. Off post is HUGE compared to Ft Knox. Tons of restaurants and roads lol. We're still on the hotel (a week now), and im SO ready to get a house. I usually love staying in hotels, but after a week, im done. The kids like it because they can stay up late, and there is a pool here. We've been in it most days, but the last few have been rainy. A house cant come open fast enough for me!
I've been able to read 4 or 5 books on my kindle since getting here. I miss reading like i used to. I just finished Angel Sister. It's set back in the early 1900's, and it was really good. I recommend checking it out.
I guess that about does it for now, and I;m going to really try keeping updated on here.
